IMPACT participants and Navigators marked the end of their final marathon season by participating in the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon on May 15. IMPACT is a three-year intervention program working with Cleveland families to improve their health with a focus on nutrition, physical activity, stress and sleep. A number of IMPACT participants were also enrolled at a school with a We Run This City (WRTC) team.

In the weeks preceding the marathon, IMPACT participants run a total of 25 miles during training. On race day, they and other WRTC participants ran the last 1.2 miles of the Cleveland Marathon course (making their total miles run during the WRTC program equivalent to a full marathon’s 26.2 miles). IMPACT participants came from 11 different Cleveland public schools. In addition, two intrepid students ran the 10K race through rain, hail, and a freak mid-May snowstorm alongside IMPACT Navigators. The weather cleared up and the sun even came out in time for the students to run the 1.2 mile route. The entire PRCHN family is incredibly proud of all IMPACT participants and the amazing IMPACT Navigators and staff.
