FreshLink Collaborates with Office of Professional Development
As FreshLink enters the second year of its intervention phase, with FreshLink Ambassadors working at farmers' markets throughout the city, Principal Investigator Darcy Freedman, PhD, and Project Manager Rachael Sommer identified a need to establish a mission and vision and set of values for the project. The FreshLink ambassador model has the potential to become a nationally disseminable project. As such, the study's leadership believe it is important to establish a central vision and mission alongside a set of values in order to guide future work.

The FreshLink team collaborated with the office of Professional Development at Case Western Reserve University on this project. It was important that this process involved input from all members of the team to ensure that the vision captured the unique perspectives represented across the team. There have been five phases of this process starting with a session held during the August FreshLink Ambassador session and continuing with feedback from the FreshLink Facilitator Team, Advisory Board, and Partners and Investigators team. Throughout this process, the office of Professional Development was a helpful partner and created unique approaches to addressing the needs of the FreshLink Project and Team.

As a result of this process, the FreshLink is pleased to share its formal Vision/Mission and Values for the FreshLink Project:

Fresh Link's Vision: FreshLink bridges residents to resources to foster healthy communities.

FreshLink's Mission: to Increase farmers’ market use among people receiving SNAP benefits through peer-to-peer outreach to promote awareness of and social connectedness to markets

No matter what space FreshLink operates in, the vision will not change. By providing a core set of standards, the team anticipates this will also enhance the project's future developments, including future recruitment, outreach, and expansion strategies.
