2018 YRBS Middle School Data Featured on News Channel 5
News Channel 5 reporter Joe Pagonakis discussed our just-released 2018 Middle School Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) data results around youth depression with Associate Director Erika Trapl, PhD, and our friends at Life Act. The YRBS team completed its first-ever fall data collection in 2018, allowing it to release the data during the same academic year in which it was collected.

One of the most compelling stories to come out of the data is the growing number of middle school students who report feelings of sadness or hopelessness for two weeks or more in a row (a symptom of depression). The percentage grew from 21.1 percent in 2010 to 28.3 percent in 2018.
