Joining Our Affiliated Faculty

The PRCHN aims to foster new growth of a community of prevention researchers to generate and disseminate new knowledge that can impact the lives of people in Greater Cleveland neighborhoods. The PRCHN is designed to provide Affiliated Faculty the resources and opportunities to advance this work.

Please see the information below about the role of Affiliated Faculty and the benefits of becoming a member of this group.  If you are a CWRU faculty member who would like to join the Affiliated Faculty, please begin by filling out the this application survey.

Role of Affiliated Faculty Members
  • Engage in learning activities and/or research working groups to promote and advance prevention research in partnership with community
  • Contribute to the mission of the PRCHN by developing and submitting research proposals, conducting research, and disseminating findings
  • Acknowledge PRCHN affiliation or support, as appropriate, in presentations, publications, and public announcements
  • Actively embrace Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) principles
Affiliated Faculty Benefits:
  • CDC-Funded Special Interest Projects - limited competition to PRCs
  • Pilot funding through the PRCHN and other university funding mechanisms
  • Opportunities for networking and collaboration with state agencies, public health agencies, community organizations, community leaders, and residents
  • Enhanced opportunities to engage in Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR)
  • Notification of CBPR training events (local and national), funding opportunities, and PRCHN seminar series
  • Technical support in developing CBPR projects
  • Interdisciplinary research opportunities
  • Priority access to the Survey Development Lab services
  • Assistance with grant proposal preparation including research design and methods, budget and budget justification, planning and preparing for the grant writing process, and opportunity for peer review
  • Priority consideration for Prevention Research Center pilot funding
  • Participation in Research Working Groups, bringing affiliated faculty and community partners together through a shared interest in a research topic 
  • Use of PRCHN facilities, including conference rooms

Principal Investigators of PRCHN administered projects also benefit from:

  • Administrative support for post award grant management
  • Communications and Public Relations assistance
  • Dissemination support
  • Technical assistance on evaluation methods
