Preventing Risk Behavior by Building Resilience Among Youth
The Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) are co-hosting a free webinar on Thursday, June 15 from 3:00-4:00 pm EST to learn how state health agencies can collaborate with educational and tribal health agencies to implement programs that increase protective factors that prevent youth health risk behavior.

Presenters will discuss how states can incorporate protective factor measures in state surveillance systems, implement programs that prevent health risk behavior and describe strategies to develop programs for at risk youth like Native American adolescents.

Objectives:
  • Understand how Prevention Research Centers (PRCs) evaluate and implement programs that build resilience for youth and reduce risky behavior.
  • Learn how state health departments can include protective factor measures in youth behavioral surveillance surveys.
  • Gain ideas for working with educational and community partners to increase protective factors such as educational connectedness.
  • Identify strategies to collaborate with tribal health agencies to reduce health disparities for Native American youth
