Health Equity Resource Page from Health Policy Institute of Ohio
The Health Policy Institute of Ohio has launched a new resource page on health equity. The web page is the first in a series of health equity products that will be released throughout 2018 to bridge the gap in knowledge and understanding of the subject in Ohio.

The equity resource page includes:
  • Sources for Ohio and national data on health disparities and inequities
  • Ohio-based and national organizations working on health equity-related issues
  • Publications and reports that provide data and information on health equity, health disparities and health inequities, as well as examples of policies, practices and other approaches to advancing health equity
According to HPIO's Health Value Dashboard, Ohio ranks 46th on health value, putting us in the bottom quartile. That means that Ohioans live less healthy lives and spend more on healthcare than people in most other states.

In addition, there are troubling disparities for many groups of Ohioans. For example, in 2016, Ohio's non-Hispanic black infant mortality rate (15.2 per 1,000 live births) was more than twice as high as the white rate (5.8 per 1,000 live births). These striking disparities suggest that in order for Ohio to improve on health value, we must achieve health equity for all Ohioans.
